Blogrolling
Posted by Lasse on December 9, 2007
It’s no overstatement to say that I’ve read more than a few music blogs this last year. As you can guess, I’m always on the lookout for new “victims” to introduce our music to. In periods it seems to me it’s the only thing I do. Even invented a word for it - Blogrolling - the art of jumping from one blog roll to yet another, and another…
And I always take pride in reading a bit, follow a few links or listen to an mp3 or two. Doing a sort of short evaluation. Not that we are that picky about who we introduce our music to, but sending it to a blog covering local bands from Toronto seems a bit of waste of time. Both ours and theirs. Peoples mailboxes are probably full enough nowdays.
And as you also can guess you get the full range of quality and ambition in the blogs I’ve found. Many (read most) are just repeating news, posting mp3s or hanging around with the rest of the crowd adding little or nothing to what’s been already said I think.
But then there are a second category, those who actually has ambition, take the time and effort to add opinions, add personality to make them interesting, well try to stand out a bit.
So you can guess (a lot of guessing in this post) how pleased we are that The Soul Of Rock ‘n’ Roll blog (for sure in the second category) took the time to review us.
And what a glowing review we think it is. It’s far to long to quote here in whole, but here are some excerpts:
“From what I’ve heard so far, I think Strangers in Wonderland is one of these bands with their own sound that can pursue all their different stylistic directions without losing that core sound and style.”
“Perhaps the most instantly noticeable is the stellar vocal talents of Asa Girgensohn. Her voice is both soulfully and gritty, but sonorous at the same time, a perfect match for very authentic and honest lyrics, which she belts out with such confidence.”
To read it in full, head over to The Soul Of Rock ‘n’ Roll, (Well spent time in our opinion of course).
Last, thanks D.A.N. First for the time and effort, it makes a difference we think. And second, for liking our music. All smiles here in Stockholm.
