About Strangers In Wonderland

From Stockholm, Sweden comes duo Strangers in Wonderland with music from just this side of the looking-glass.
Since 2006 we have dreamed, written, performed and produced songs about what we call Wonderland. Songs about life and love and how sometimes that world on the other side of the mirror slips through to trip us up. And how sometimes, when we look into that mirror, we want what’s on the other side.
Strangers In Wonderland consists of Åsa Girgensohn, who does all the singing and everything else, and Lasse Thomasson who just does the everything else bit, except for maybe the odd backing vocal or so.

”I’ve always played since I can remember, music always been there in my life.
My first instrument was the violin and at the age of fourteen I discovered the guitar, a love that never died since then.
After finishing school at the prominent Adolf Fredrik Music Classes in Stockholm I’ve played in several bands, most known was perhaps Krakel Zpektakel and others were Amnesia and Stoneface.
I also sang in the Swedish Radio Choir.
I like to think that every one of our songs needs their own interpretation. That I must use my voice to find that that special tone and character that the music and lyric express. Every song is new chance do discover new parts in that instrument I love the most, my voice.
Every song is like a new painting, with it’s own light, it’s own shadows and it’s own history. With it’s own tale to tell.”

David Lilja

David Lilja
”I’m a music producer from Stockholm, Sweden.
Influenced by Trouser Enthusiasts, Astral Projection and many more, I’ve created some heavy grooves for the dance-floor and you’ve probably danced to a couple of them without knowing. Perhaps most known as Ypsilon 5, but I’m not going to hit you with something hard if you haven’t heard of me nor anything that I’ve produced.
I started playing the Clarinette at the age of nine and the Piano at the age of ten. Fell in love with the synthetic sounds created by Jarre and got my first synth at the age of 13. I’m very interested in the wide electronica scene and I’m creating mostly everything from slow and rhythmic soundscapes to fast, uplifting, goa-trance. My influences are almost everything that makes a sound.
Since the late 90’s I’ve been working together with Swedish independent label Dead Frog Records and for the last three years also teamed up co-producing, remixing and as a sound technician for TMJ Records (Swedish site).”

”I started playing music at the age of 5 and has since then been in
a number of bands. The peak of the ‘on stage-career’ was when my current band represented Sweden at the World Exhibition, Expo 2000, in Germany.
The last years I’ve been focusing primarily on remixing, writing and producing, mostly Swedish artists, but also well known international stars. Today, I’m a part of the production team Cut & Paste.
Due to my pop/rock background my remixes usually target somewhere in-between pop/rock, alternative and electronica.
When it comes to songwriting, I handles a number of genres, including anything from soft ballads to dance and heavy rock.”

”I started playing the piano when I was eight, and the French horn when I was nine. From the moment I got to fiddle around a bit with a relative’s Hammond organ, I got interested not just in music, but sound in general and in audio technology. Over time, focus shifted towards synthesizers and the larger sonic palette on offer. This focus on sound remains to this day. I’m still very interrested in sound, and sound design, probably even more so than in creating actual tunes. Musically, I’m into most things electronic. I tend to do most of the proper work together with David Lilja or in other constellations. However, I also produce and remix a bit under the Gearsluts International guise, mostly rather scaled down electronic stuff. One of the founding members of Cut&Paste Productions. Impressed? Yeah, I know, I know… ;o)”
