Welcome to the home of Strangers In Wonderland.
If you like what you hear and read we hope you will register to get even more songs and stuff to download. Read more about it here
And enjoy! We do!
The Swedish music blog Meadow Music has just presented their Christmas gift to the world. A full stocking with nine songs to help us get in the right Christmas mood. We are of course one of them and our remixer Chuck Dread has put his magic wand to another one. Others are for example Maini Sorri and Twiggy Frostbite.
We suggest you head over to Meadow Music, listen, download and fill your ears with some sweet sounds of the season.
There is so many people to thank. Our fans, our friends, our families, podcasters, bloggers, people in the music business and so on…
We hope you know who you are.
You have all made this a truly wonderful year in Wonderland.
We wish you a Merry Chrismas and a Happy New Year!
And what better way for us to do it than with a song about Christmas and about keeping faith in your dreams (and yes, in Swedish but that’s the way it came out :-).
… but being a challenger on the Swedish national radio show and chart Trackslistan is a sort of dream coming true.
In the mid eighties, when the show started, every Saturday those two hours was sacred to me. It was Frankie goes to Hollywood with Two Tribes, Prince with Purple Rain and Pet Shop Boys with West End Girls, all the classic 80’s songs mixed with more questionably acts like Samantha Fox with Touch Me (I Want Your Body).
Yes, silly, but it felt good seeing us there, 20 years later.
We may make the chart, we may not, I’m just happy anyway.
Yes, we had a few things to celebrate. And how to find a better place to do than than among the stars. In the highest situated bar in Stockholm. With a lot of bubbles to inflate and make us even lighter.
The only thing missing was the man himself, the one and only Chuck Dread!
Soon it’s that time of year. And wheather you love it or hate it some real good music is needed to get in the right mood.
Our remixer, the brilliant Mr Chuck Dread obviously loves Christmas.
He has done a remix of Christian Björklund’s version of O, Helga Natt or Cantique de Nöel or Oh, Holy Night. And he is spreading it around for free in that good old spirit of Yule!
Wow! Just take a look at the screenshot from the online music store CDON.
Strangers with Addicted (Chuck Dread Remix) in second place over downloaded songs, squeezed in between Beyoncé and P!nk. Is that cool or is that cool (and I love that Beyoncé tune by the way)
The same song is also climbing on the Swedish ITunes charts too.
Sort of time to bring out some champagne
We think the song deserves all this attention and that Fred (alias Chuck Dread) did a perfect job with the remix. And he also wrote a little about all this on his blog.
“Shadows innehåller femton låtar plus fyra remixer, vilket är lite för mycket för att det ska hålla rakt igenom. Men när plattan är som bäst är den helt enkelt skitbra. En sådan här debut lär inte bli lätt att följa upp…”
The Swedish web radio station Johns Radio has played us recently, giving Stay, Whispers, I Like It and Addicted (Chuck Dread Remix) some time in the air.
On the 6th of October we released our new album Shadows.
We are very pleased with the way the album came out. Pleased in that way you are when your doing what matters most in life. And doing it without compromises.
Podcasters has been a major part in that. Without their response to our music (played 225 times in more than 75 different shows in the last year) we woudn’t be where we are today. They have given us so much encouragment and energy to move forward.
So how could we give something back?
We came up with the idea to make the whole CD podsafe, making it the first ever podsafe album ever (at least we think so).
We think that is pretty cool and hope you agree.
This is how it works:
1. Order the CD by clicking on the button below or by following this link. The price is $9.50 + $5 for S/H. A total of $14.50. And if you reside in the European Union you have to pay an additional sales tax of $3.63 on top of that.
We’ll ship it to you as soon as we can, usually the next day. Depending on where in the world you are it’ll take 2 to 8 days for the CD to reach you.
2. You’ll get the CD (with the cool podsafe sticker and all), a printed, personal and signed license to play any song from the CD in any podcast you host forever (see example here and read all the legal stuff). And we throw in the single So Much More too as an extra treat.
3. We also mail you links to mp3 versions of all the songs on the CD. So there is no need to rip the CD, just download the songs you want.
Included are also some station IDs, cool graphics, and a PDF version of the license.
Sounds good? Well, the click on the button to get your own podsafe copy and license!
And you can of still find us on the Podsafe Music Network with some podsafe songs from the CD.
Pierre Malmqvist of the Swedish radio station HitMix has started spinning us. I know he’s been playing Fast Car, Walk With Me and Chuck Dread’s Addicted remix.
If you like Swedish music, and if you want to know what’s new and mostly undiscovered yet, then you need to visit the mp3 music blog Meadow Music.
With an eclectic view towards styles and genres it showcases a lot of really good Swedish independent bands and artists. And loads of mp3 downloads that’ll keep your player spinning for a long time (and expanding your mind at the same time).
And yes, of course we got included with a review of the new album.
”The base is solid pop with beautiful melodies, strong choruses, an atmosphere and lyrics that give a feeling of mystique around their Wonderland-theme. Åsa Girgensohn adds a lot of tension and drama with her vocals. Her voice reminds a little of ABBA-Annifrid, but with real dose of attitude added, which makes it more interesting to listen to.”
Well, yes there are a lot of heavens or and a lot of hells, at least in our music and lyrics (and in life itself I think). And more so obviously in the incoming reviews of the album.
”I wouldn’t be surprised if they succeed, their music represents something new and exciting with sounds and rythms you haven’t heard before”, writes Kåbe Lidén of Smålänningen.
”Their search in Alice’s dark fantasy wonderland is so trite and uninteresting that the clocks stop”, writes Anders Tapola of Smålandsposten.
If you know your Swedish you can read both below.
And yes, just like life, no absolute truths, you need to make up your own.
Last night we played at very good friend’s 70th birthday party (Who is also one of our greatest fans). It was all in all a wonderful event, and we are very happy that we had the chance to contribute to that magical evening.
So once again, many greetings from us in Wonderland to you Gunilla.
Want to get a hold of a copy of the new album and live outside the EU. Not a problem, just head over to CD Baby to get it. Buy the CD or the mp3s and be a part of our Wonderland.
If you live in Sweden or some other country inside the EU you could use CDON.com to get. It will be up there any day now.
